Being RICH & having your cultural identity travel with you
The saying is that you can leave your village, town or city, BUT the village, town or city stays within you. It never leaves YOU. No matter how you grow in social stature or affluent you become within your life journey, the essence; or spirit, of your village, town or city relating to your upbringing in your formative years has been paramount to the mindset that you carried into adulthood. This includes your realisation on your reality and that of others who are ahead of you and behind you from differing cultural identities and social classes. Yet you strive to be a person of quality from whatever background by using your cultural identity as a first class gem to propel you higher and further amongst all the chaos and furore of your rise.
You have a definite cultural identity. You have a particular family tree, an interesting family history. A worthy one, as each story of your family narrative is worthy of learning from. From birth you were handed a family legacy. With particular merits, ethics, beliefs, morality, credibility and history.
The three constants from your upbringing are these 1. a religious establishment (temple, church, mosque, synagogue, et al), 2. an educational environment (University of Life, school, college, home schooling, et al) and 3. gatherings of men and women at a public square, marketplace, pub or community hall. These three constants are your trinity of reference as you were growing up. Not forgetting the main thoroughfare, the hub of activity for the community. People doing their best to live a good life. People working hard to take care of their family in the best way that they can. Living in a country where there was social cohesion and security. Living in a country where there was no social cohesion and security. Each carrying its own advantages and disadvantages. Having an impact upon your upbringing, discipline, well-being and coping strategy. Days of the week had tasks and responsibilities that you had to learn and abide by. Forming the boundaries of your life and your cultural identity.
Your culture has its place. Your identity has its place. Your affluence has its place. What you resonate with has its place.
Breaking away from the boundaries enabled you to test the limits of yourself and your cultural identity. To develop and find out who you are as you engaged with affluence. This process usually occurs in a new location with different people. You are learning. You are observing. You are tripping up in life; which is natural as everyone goes through this, as you travel with your cultural identity. You are finding your path through the expansion of your mind and the expansion of your cultural identity as you absorb the different cultures that resonate with you. In truth, you are freeing yourself from the constraints of where you were brought up. This new found freedom making you giddy with the experiences. Staying out of trouble. Getting into trouble.
Your cultural experiences have all mattered and it has all led you to where you are now. A profound journey with your cultural identity that always travels with you as you reach higher and higher in life.
So, how is it going for you embracing your cultural identity as you travel in affluence?
