THE YEAR 2018 - Lessons Learned In Business As An Entrepreneur 

or, As A Highly Prized Company Department Head




YOU are a new UHNW or HNW Woman with an online presence. You are liking your affluence. Your opulent lifestyle. Your new ventures and meetings with other like-minded women. You are different from the traditional Westernised imagery of what a wealthy, influential woman should look like. Speak like. Behave like. You have done things YOUR way and accomplished this position in life through sheer hard work and trawling through the bullshit of the expectations / put downs by others. Your difference was not a hindrance, in fact it was the catalyst to your fortune. This is what ‘they’ did not want you to see, to experience, to become. This powerful, rich, influential woman who is DIFFERENT.


And guess what you learned on the way in 2018.



1. Go Deeper, not Wider.

You had to grow up fast over the Internet. As an older woman with limited Internet savvy, or as a younger woman with confidence and trust issues.

You listened to the shouts of “Go Big or Go Home”, which truly on a side note, why is going home such a bad thing? Unless you are homeless and have no home to go to.

Who would not adore to go to their ideal home and take a well deserved nap, then potter around the beauty of their house?

Anyho, back to the point.

This obsession with going big + wide + massive is not really working any more. All of those million dollar funnels are falling apart and people are losing their shit because they are focused too much on going big. Going wide. (silly sausages)


One of the lessons that YOU came away with from 2018 is that you should look at going DEEP rather than wide.

There used to be a time when online business people could run a Facebook ad directly to an automated webinar pretending to be live and people would just watch the webinar, be fooled into thinking it was live, even interact with a poor bot on a page thinking that it was an actual human (so bloody creepy ughh). Unsuspecting viewers then bought the service/product after the delivery of their Rapport-Teach-Pitch webinar format (with super low emphasis on the teach part).

At least some of them bought.

But this was enough to keep you under the illusion that your sales strategy was working (some people who were financially burned by this called this strategy a doo-doonel. That is a sales funnel where you put doo-doo at the top and therefore only get thick, murky doo-doo at the bottom).

Now, people like you are getting super smart, they place zero value on automated webinars and sadly even see actual live webinars with sceptical eyes. (the way of the world with technology mimicking reality to a believable factor)

You have had people say to you on your webinars:

Oh my god, you just answered my question AND took my name! “We’re actually live!

Imagine that.

How sad is that?

How awful that people even when they can see that a webinar is live cannot be really sure. This is because they have been burned so many times. People just naturally grow wary and cautious. You know that and I know that.

So instead of attempting that mass audience fix of going wide + going big + targeting as many people as possible; only then to treat them as mere numbers, why not try and go deep with:

+ That one live stream

+ That one webinar

+ That one sales pitch

+ That one email

+ That one blog


Again, instead of trying to get 1,000 people on your webinar, why not try and attract 100 people, but then..

  • Talk to those 100 people

  • Build a rapport with them

  • Teach them something different, or something old in a new way; your way, that has results.

  • Reassure them

  • Build a belief ladder

  • Pitch

  • Nudge

  • Allow them to believe in you, your product, your offer.


When you do that, when you go deep, even those who are not watching the webinar live, even those who watch the replay, they can see that you are taking the time to address actual human objections, not some random objection that you made in your head.

Once you do this with your webinar for example, your webinar will start to convert because people can see YOU see THEM… the human connection is where it matters. For those of you that know, you know that webinars can start to convert at 10%. Further to this, I can add that those people who do not buy from you directly have your details (name, service, product) on their vision board, or in their diary, to return to you at a later date. So all is not lost when people do not buy from you there and then. I know that I definitely have RISE coaching for Women (Rise and Trust, RISE to Escape + RISE and Succeed)) on several vision boards and in diaries of potential clients. YOU who learned to go deep in 2018 also realised this.


2. When People Tell You They Love You, Believe Them.

You who have been through some of the downs of 2018 and come out the other end on a high note, have your issues. Your shy issues. Your introvert issues. Your autism issues. Your guilt issues. Your confidence issues. Your trust issues. Your mental health issues. Your self esteem issues. Your addiction issues. Your cultural issues. Your relationship issues. Your appearance issues. Your weight issues. So on and so forth.

Let us assume that YOU thrive on people telling you how WONDERFUL you are and when you do not hear that or read that, you do not imagine that your visitors are going through a busy life like a normal human being. You make an assumption that they dislike you. That they have no time for you. That they are bored of you. That they are plotting to take you down. Yes, you worry yourself into a state of anxiety daily about not having the connection with potential clients and established customers that you crave day to day. The silence is a torment. You worry that you have said something or done something despicable to warrant this silence from customers.

Yes. YOU are the mistress of freaking out about imaginary situations with literally zero probability of it ever happening. This is your super power. Something that you do not really like to brag about as it brings you consternation.

This is one of the things that the journey through 2018 taught you. When people are silent but present (on your emails, blogs, social media page, webinar, podcast) it is 100% because they love you. Not just mildly like you, but actually LOVE YOU because you made a positive addition to their life. An addition that they were searching for, for a long time. They just do not express the love in a way that you are used to seeing it and that is OK. Really OK.

They admire you. They find you inspirational and want to learn from you. Why else would they share even a tiny fragment of their already busy life or ‘stretched to the limit’ attention span on you?

So when ONE customer tells you that they love you, please go out on a super positive limb and make a positive assumption that 10 people are silent admirers. You have permission to do this.


3. Leave Time for Magic!

There was a time when you used to live & die by your calendar. Every minute of your day was planned out, down to the minute. You were frequently in launch mode and the constant firefighting was your fuel.

To this day, you wish that you could say that you stopped doing that because you got wise & decided to let your brain chill out.

But no, you did this because you needed to empty your brain.

At that point, there were tangles tangled with other tangles inside your head.

Your brain had so many open tabs, it was a miracle you were not lying comatosed in the middle of the road trying to manage them all.

So you decided to set aside some time for untangling your brain. That is how it started.

You soon realised that a lot of the mess trapped in your brain is actually GOLD… GOLD that you never allowed out because… well ain’t nobody got time for that.

And when you actually gave it time….BOOM

You ended up creating:

+ fresh, new content

+ a new service

+ a new product

And one…are you ready for it? Publication. Yes. A publication that was trapped inside that brain. Tangled in all the mess.

All of this became possible because YOU allowed time in your schedule for nothing.

+ To let your brain wander.

+ To flirt with new ideas.

+ To play some creative ping pong with something other than numbers.

To create magic.


4. Play the Hand You Are Dealt As Though It Is the Hand You Wanted.

When you were starting your business, you tried everything to blend in.

You even took accent correction classes so you could sound fancy like everyone else on the internet (that really did not work LMAO)

You were hell-bent on breaking free from who you really were.

- Your accent.

- Where you came from.

- Your history.

- Your lineage.

- Your background.

For a while, it worked.

You were making some money.

But you were constantly panicking and overwhelmed.

You were frequently anxious that you would say something grammatically incorrect.

And then the fear that people would find out that you are not as good as you pretended to be.

And you were right.

After a while, the sales dropped.

- The fans tapered off.

- The brand hype calmed down.

- And you realised that in your quest to blend in, you were blending out…

- You had lost your edge, you sounded like everyone else.

- And that was quite a disaster for someone who looks like you because now you came across like a 'wanna be'.

You had a choice to make:

Did you want to become one of the herd? A shoutier, nastier ME TOO caricature?

Or

Did you want to embrace your baggage, your own bizarre carpet bag of idiosyncracies and then flaunt it like it is a one off designer bejewelled penis pouch used as a spare coin purse.

The choice was obvious.

You realised this one profound message that changed your life. It changes everyone else’s too when they embrace it:

Play the hand that you are dealt as though it is the hand you wanted.

You were trying so hard to get away from your hand. To play somebody else’s hand, whilst all the while looking painfully ordinary.

What an utter loss.

One of the biggest lessons from 2018 for YOU has been to excitedly, enthusiastically, passionate embrace your [insert your first name here]ness. Your unique set of cards.

Wear these like medusa wears her snakes (weird, creepy but HERS).


5. Be the Prize

Let us make a supposition. Suppose that you have a buyer who suffers abominably from a rash of pus filled spots that has her squeezing them and making her skin irritable throughout the night leaving her tossing, turning and cursing.

Now imagine that YOU are a small pot of cool, refreshing Bay Rum water and a healing balm rolled into one, a concoction that is guaranteed to make her itchy, puss filled skin all better.

How should you be acting when pitching, selling, launching this solution?

I will tell you.

You should be acting like you are the goddamn PRIZE

Like you are the answer to all the pained cries for help who are suffering with this affliction of a bad rash with pus filled spots.

Like they are lucky that you exist.

And that you are willing to share that solution.


You ARE NOT a desperate, whiny, eager-to-please entrepreneur who chases after sales.

YOU ARE A PRIZE. In fact you are THE prize.

And the prize does not chase.


Take pride in knowing that 2018 was the first year when YOU fully stepped into your role as a PRIZE. Now that you have reached this summit of yours, your bad ass is firmly plastered to this spot. It is time that you stepped forward and told other entrepreneurs how:

+ The landscape from the summit is incredibly splendid.

+ Your pitches are smoother and take on a whole new movement of their own.

+ Your sales are effortless.

+ And YOU no longer have to deal with nasties asking you to justify your price.

Time for YOU, standing in the queue reading this, to do the same. The last year in business was not kind to and now you have to turn it around. So,...

Step up. Be the PRIZE.


Let us suppose you are in the middle of your pitch and someone says:

”Hurry up and tell me what you’re selling.”

Never hurry up.

Your mindset should be:

+ You should be privileged to hear me pitch.

+ If you do not open your purse and pay for my service/product, it is YOUR loss. The longer you wait the more it is costing you in your professional, personal and social life.

+ You need to be in my company.

+ You would be a privileged individual to get to talk to me.

+ It is time for you to start benefiting from my genius. You were signposted to me for a reason because I know that I can help you further.

+ Now is the time when you get to buy from me.


Never ever come from a place of:

Buy from me because I am awesome. OR. I have a great offer. OR. My product is cheap.


Your stance has to be:

Buy from me because this is the best thing for you. It will change your life. No-one else can match it. I am the best.
